If you’ve followed our blog at all over the past year, then you know that Adeptia likes getting personal. And that makes sense, considering that our software is nothing if not approachable. It’s our strong belief at Adeptia that tech companies should speak to more than just the technically elite, and we want to you to know how much we really mean that.
We are all people who love working together for something we believe in, and we want to share that part of ourselves with you… and more. So for the next in our series where we get personal with each other about who we are, here are some questions and answers from a conversation with Adeptia employee Jennifer Egan:
1. What do you do at Adeptia?
I am the Marketing Communications and Creative Director for Adeptia, which means I get to wear a lot of hats. I am responsible for the development of the Adeptia brand in the marketplace through all our marketing collateral, the web site, events, sales support, email marketing, video production, social media, and PR. I also manage the content engine closely with our VP of Marketing to produce great content for our blog.
2. How long have you been working for Adeptia?
I have been working for Adeptia for about a year and a half, recently coming out of a non-profit manufacturing background designing the communications for North America’s Largest Metal Forming, Fabricating, Welding, and Finishing Trade Show FABTECH.
3. Given where Adeptia’s main office is, what’s your favorite restaurant in Chi-town?
I love all the great coffee shops around the Chicago area, in particular the Ipsento Coffee shop for their one of a kind Ipsento latte, a cayenne spiced latte which is especially good with Almond milk.
My husband and I have also really enjoyed the Chicago Twin Anchors restaurant, known as one of Frank Sinatra’s favorite hang out places in Chicago as well as a film site for the movie, “Return to Me” (2000) with Minnie Driver, Bonnie Hunt, Carroll O’Connor and many others. They are known for their great ribs!!
4. Cubs or White-Sox?
Totally Cubs… They are lookin’ great this year! I stand united with my husband, brother, nephews and nieces, proclaiming… “Just One Before I Die!!!!”
5. How does Adeptia compare to other places you’ve worked in the past? Culture? People? Overall Experience?
I have worked for a lot of different companies and each one has shaped me as a person throughout my career, but I must say I have never been in such an innovative company with the kind of passion for setting themselves apart from the competition that I see here. There is also a sense that Adeptia is willing to do whatever it takes to meet our customers’ unique needs, and the development and support teams work hard to make sure our customers are delighted in working with us both in terms of price and value of our products. We expect a lot of our staff and we all rise to the challenges that are set before us. The bar is set very high here and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
6. Top Three All-Time Favorite Movies:
- 1.The Princess Bride
- 2.Star Wars – through all the years! Can’t wait for the 2015 movie!
- 3.Forrest Gump and anything with Tom Hanks
7. What is a feature of an Adeptia product that you’re most excited about/proud of?
Adeptia Connect is our newest innovation and it truly is that. It’s such an innovative approach to integration that we can’t help but get excited. There’s an excitement in the air as it gains momentum as our existing customers learn more about how it can help them significantly change the way they do B2B integration today and in the future. It’s a game-changer for our industry. But, I also see why our Adeptia Integration Suite has been our flagship product for the past 15 years as we help companies achieve better automation, human workflow capabilities with greater end-to-end visibility for the total organization.
8. Favorite place You’ve Ever Visited:
My all-time favorite trip was with my parents visiting my sister and brother-in-law who were stationed in Nürhenberg, Germany through the U.S. Army, and touring Salzburg, Austria at Christmastime when I was 12.
Most recently, my next favorite place is Anna Maria Island in Sarasota, Florida. Nothing compares with the sunsets on the Gulf and the white sandy beaches… I love going on vacation with my husband and daughters, and we have made it a point to try lots of different places in the U.S., as there is so much to see and experience…one day I hope to get back to Europe again.
9. Thing you’re looking forward to the most right now:
Seeing my daughters (18 and 21) both spread their wings and discover what it is that they are meant to do. Our youngest daughter is just starting her college journey at the Savannah College of Art and Design to study 3D animation and illustration, and our oldest daughter is working towards becoming a costume designer for film with dreams of publishing fantasy novels too someday.
10. What do you love about working for Adeptia?
I love coming to work everyday at Adeptia. I love the energy and the wave of innovation that I see everywhere throughout the company — not just in Chicago, but also in our office in India. The people are amazing to work with and there is a sense of creativity in the office believing that the “sky is the limit!” We have big dreams and we’re all working very hard to make them a reality. We have true innovators in our leadership and their passion is infectious.
I also love the tight “family” team atmosphere felt throughout the company. Adeptia takes great care of their employees.
